Aegean Pro-Am 2012
Aegean Airlines is to continue its golfing odyssey in 2012 by staging the seventh event of its adventurous series of Pro-Ams on the island of Cyprus. This follows previous stagings on the island of Crete, on the Greek mainland at Porto Carras and, for the past two years, at Costa Navarino.
The latest leg of the PGAs of Europe-endorsed Aegean Airlines Pro-Am's journey, next spring, will take place at the beautiful Aphrodite Hills Resort from May 30 to June 1, 2012.
In its seven years the international Pro-Am has always attracted a 'full-house' field of four-man teams comprising a PGA professional and four amateurs, a high percentage of them returning year after year because of it appeal as a highly competitive and sociably-enjoyable occasion that sets a very high benchmark for Pro-Ams.
And in the course of its six-year history the Aegean Airlines event has carried out an incalculable service to the country's leisure and tourist industry in terms of raising the nation's golfing profile.
At the same time, also, it has promoted the three previous resorts at which it has been staged. As the sport expands in the south and east of Europe the PGAs of Europe-endorsed pro-am has played a leading part in the development along co-ordinated lines.
Aphrodite Hills Resort is billed as 'the most prestigious five-star integrated sports and leisure resort in the Eastern Mediterranean. Situated in an area steeped in Cypriot culture, it is conveniently located just 15 minutes away from Paphos International Airport. It overlooks the very area where Aphrodite, the goddess of love, is said to have emerged from the waves'.
Aphrodite Hills Resort combines a five-star InterContinental Hotel, an 18-hole championship golf course plus Golf Academy, the Greco-Roman award-winning Retreat Spa, tennis and multi-surface courts with a Tennis Academy, an exclusive Beach Club, nature and bike trails and a variety of bars and restaurants offering a wide selection of international cuisine.
