Costa Navarino

New...Exciting...a Greek Golfing Idyll

The new and exciting Grecian location of Costa Navarino, Messinia,  in the southwest Peloponnese, one of the most unspoiled and breathtaking seaside landscapes in the Mediterranean, has planned all of the ingredients required to make it one of Europe's most popular Resorts, despite the country's current economic difficulties.

Extending over 130 hectares of gently sloping hillside, the Navarino Dunes course is an almost indescribibly beautiful location, richly endowed by nature, and overlooking a magnificent sandy beach that stretches for more than a kilometre, washed by the warm clear blue waters of the Ionian Sea.

World-class amenities include a full-service conference centre, a large spa, a wide choice of dining venues, plus a range of leisure facilities and limitless opportunities for indoor and outdoor pursuits provide a social, and business back-up to the tempting beauty of the golf courses.

The gently undulating topography featuring a river, olive trees, orange groves, and open, sandy plains combine to create a superb setting for world-class golf. Featuring two courses, Navarino Dunes and Navarino Bay, Costa Navarino plans separate clubhouse facilities approximately three miles apart.

The Dunes Course, designed by former US Masters Champion and Ryder Cup Captain Bernhard Langer in association with European Golf Design, includes two 5-star hotels, The Romanos, a Luxury Collection Resort, Costa Navarino and The Westin Resort, Costa Navarino, that sit on a gentle rolling hillside that slopes down to the Ionian Sea.

This championship course,  incorporates some links-style features in areas closest to the sea, with tall dunes dividing some of the holes adjacent to the golden beach. Parts of the course venture into olive and fruit groves, while some holes run along a small river that meanders through the site. Combined with large undulating greens, wide fairways and steep-faced pot bunkers, the links element of the course adds to its unique style and playability.

The 18-hole seaside golf course at Navarino Bay, The Bay Course, to be completed early 2011, will include a Banyan Tree hotel and is located on a bluff overlooking the bay. With 80% of all tees offering sublime sea views and two holes playing along the historic bay of Navarino, the course will meander through three distinct natural environments. The Seaside, Canyon, and Grove holes will provide striking contrasts that create a dramatic and memorable round.
