Riiber & Steno Provide Grandstand Tuscany Finish2 min read

Posted on: 5th Oct 2016

The PGA of Denmark’s Nicolas Riiber and his amateur partner, Andrea Steno, rode to victory in the 2016 Tuscany Golf Pro-Am after a final round of 44 points (-8) saw them top the leaderboard to become the event’s inaugural winners.

The Final round of the got underway in perfect golfing conditions – sunny weather and no wind looked promising for good scoring and it certainly did not disappoint.

With the top-four teams separated by just three points heading into the final round, it was anyone’s to take, with the penultimate grouping taking the bull by the horns and battling amongst themselves for the title.

The team led by Enrico Di Nitto (Alps Tour) and amateur, Roberto Mangifesta, certainly had the better front-nine, carding a super 24 points (-6), giving them a one-point lead over the PGA of Denmark’s Nicolas Riiber and amateur Andrea Steno.

However, Team Riiber really turned on the style with a sublime grandstand finish that was worthy of the victory.

A nett eagle and 2 birdies in the closing three holes saw them sign for a final round 44 points (-8) giving them a one-point victory over their playing partners, Team Di Nitto, who signed for 43 points (-7) to secure the runners-up position on count back.

Early Round 01 leaders, Team Rodiles, signed for a final 41 points (-3), putting them into third place after missing out on the count back result.

In the gross team tournament, Round 02 leaders, Team Bolognesi, signed for a final round gross 32 points which handed them the best Gross Score title for the week.

The inaugural Pro-Am at Argentario Golf & Spa Resort was hailed a spectacular setting for the event and many of the teams are already looking ahead to battling it out next year in the Tuscany Sun.
