Miller Making Ground in Bulgaria2 min read

Posted on: 12th Oct 2016

Ralph Miller (PGA of Holland) advanced a place further up the 2016 UniCredit PGA Professional Championship leaderboard through Round 02 with a five-under par 67.

Miller has been a regular at the Championship in recent years and is seeking a breakthrough win after placing third in 2011 and consecutive second places in the 2014 and 2015 editions.

“Obviously this is a great event to win,” said Miller. “I’d love to win it I really would, but if someone else is better then hats off to them.

“I was solid today, especially on the back nine when it started to rain for us so it was good to hit greens and make putts… If you can do that then you’re going to have opportunities to make birdies…so I’ll keep the same gameplan as my last rounds here.”

A bogey-free 67, combined with his first round 68, gives the Dutchman a one-shot lead at nine under (135) for the week so far.

Round 01 Leader, Florian Jahn (PGA of Germany), continued his good form with a three-under par 69 for an eight-under (136) total:

“I played well today and was very steady,” explained Jahn. “I think I will just play my game – it’s more passive…fairways and greens…always on the safe side of the flag.”

Sweden’s Christoffer Wahlgren sits in third position following a four-under 68 that included two blemish bogeys on his card, showing the birdies are out there for the taking.

Low round of the week so far went to the PGA in England’s Guy Woodman who made a seven-under par 65 to propel himself up the leaderboard to close just four shots behind on five-under (139).

“I struggled a bit yesterday, but managed to find something on the range this morning and went with it,” said Woodman. “When it’s calm you can give yourself a lot of wedge opportunities and managed to convert a few so I’m really happy.”

Round 02 begins at 09:30am (GMT+3).
