Job Description

The Professional Golfers’ Association is seeking a qualified and experienced Manager to drive the Association’s Media activities.

Established in 1901, the PGA offers support to its Members by providing membership benefits, education and playing opportunities as well as advice throughout their career, in all areas of golf.

As part of its contribution to promoting and growing the game of golf for all, the PGA works globally in partnership with a number of other golf and commercial organisations.

Based at PGA National Headquarters, The Belfry, Sutton Coldfield, the Communications Manager will co-ordinate all Media Department activity including PR, Marketing, Social/Digital Media, Media Collateral and Campaigns.

In an operational capacity, the Communications Manager will work collaboratively with the Senior Management Team and Heads/Managers of Departments promoting the PGA brand, PGA activities and PGA Members.

Principal responsibilities include:

  • Managing brand delivery across the organisation, ensuring quality and effective branded marketing communications to include PGA website, digital and print communication;

  • Maintaining, reviewing and developing the PGA website to ensure it is up to date, relevant and engaging;

  • Implementing and maintaining an effective departmental work plan that aligns with overarching PGA activity;

  • Ensuring the media department is adequately supporting all PGA departments and regional offices to ensure all PGA communications are effective;

  • Analysing and reporting on effectiveness.


This is a permanent, full time role with core hours of the business being from 9 am until 5 pm Monday to Friday. A degree of weekend working with the ability to travel (occasionally internationally) will be required.

Qualifications

As well as holding relevant Media and Marketing qualifications, the ideal candidate will be an effective and natural communicator with highly developed teamwork skills, good customer focus/service delivery and will be able to demonstrate creative and critical thinking skills. A good knowledge of the game of golf and an understanding of the needs and demands of the PGA are essential as is having extensive experience in a marketing executive or marketing/communications manager role.

Experience in the use of a full range of marketing tools including PR, website management, social media, creative services and Microsoft software suite of products is essential.

As well having good influencing and decision making skills, the successful candidate will be able to demonstrate good attention to detail and the ability to plan and prioritise a busy portfolio of work whilst remaining calm under pressure.
