Annual Congress & International Team Championship Heading to Greece’s Costa Navarino http://www.pgae.com/news/annual-congress-international-team-championship-heading-to-greeces-costa-navarino/ Mon, 13 Nov 2017 09:00:41 +0000 PGAs of Europe http://www.pgae.com/?p=20342 Costa Navarino in Greece will play host to the 2017 PGAs of Europe Annual Congress and International Team Championship (ITC) from 22-25 November...]]>

Costa Navarino in Greece will play host to the 2017 PGAs of Europe Annual Congress and International Team Championship (ITC) for the first time as the events take place from 22-25 November.

The hosting of the Association’s flagship event continues the successful relationship between the PGAs of Europe and the prime sustainable destination in the Mediterranean that currently includes sanctioning of their Messinia Pro-Am and regularly hosting the Aegean Airlines Pro-Am.

“We are extremely excited to be able to take two of our key events to Costa Navarino and bring them fully into our Corporate Partner family,” said PGAs of Europe Chief Executive, Ian Randell.

“We have been visiting them since their formation and it is a stunning venue with two first class golf courses. Costa Navarino has quickly become established as one of Europe’s, if not the world’s, leading golf destinations. We are proud to be showcasing this superb destination and its facilities to leaders of our National PGAs and the competitors who have qualified to represent their PGAs in the ITC.”

“We are honoured that Costa Navarino has been chosen to host the PGAs of Europe’s flagship event and we look forward to welcoming the Association in the region of Messinia,” said Stephanos Theodorides, Managing Director and Vice Chairman of TEMES S.A. – Developers of Costa Navarino.

“A combination of perfect weather year-round, two award-winning golf courses by the sea, high-quality facilities and authentic experiences, Costa Navarino, chosen by IAGTO as “European Golf Resort of the Year 2017”, is fast becoming a leading golf destination to enjoy in every season.”

The Annual Congress is the Association’s yearly opportunity to bring representatives from its 35 Member Country PGAs together under one roof, facilitating meetings, discussions and workshops to share ideas, progress and various ways they can advance their organisations and golf in their respective territories.

The ITC then runs alongside the Congress in which teams from across the Association’s Member Countries compete over 72 holes on The Dunes Course, designed by Bernhard Langer. The best two individual scores each day from the team of three will count towards the overall team score, and a secondary event sees small and emerging Member PGAs compete for the ITC Shield.

The Westin Resort Costa Navarino will act as the base for both events, concluding with the Gala Awards Dinner supported by Rolex, bringing Congress delegates and ITC competitors together in celebration of the annual award winners and the ITC Champions.

The Annual Congress & ITC are partnered by Costa Navarino, the Ryder Cup European Development Trust, BMW and Aegean Airlines, and are supported by The Botanist, The Blue Beetle, Bulldog, G’Vine gins, Marendry apperitivo, and Fever-Tree Premium Natural Mixers.

The PGA of Great Britain & Ireland’s Matthew Cort completed a leading performance at Quinta do Lago in Portugal, with a -10 total to take The Invitational Pro-Am 2017 honours.

Cort held the lead in all three rounds of the event and closed with another two-under par 70 on the South Course at Quinta do Lago finishing two shots ahead of second place at -10 (206).

“I am thrilled to win…we’ve played three great courses this week and we’ve been so well looked after,” said the member of the victorious PGA of GB&I PGA Cup team. “I’ve been busy playing throughout the summer and the PGA Cup was unbelievable…I was settling down for a bit of a winter break, but coming out here and keeping the game together was good, so I’m really pleased to win this week.”

Rising seven places up the leaderboard into second position was the PGA of France’s Julien Gressier after a four-under 68 consisting of seven birdies and three bogeys for his eight-under total (208).

Just one shot back was PGA EuroPro Tour Professional, John Henry, who closed his consistent week with a level par 72 and a total of seven-under (209) for sole third place.

The Team Pro-Am was won by the PGA of Italy’s Emanuele Canonica and his partner, Allegra Mangifesta. A closing 59 (-13), the low round of the day, gave Canonica and Mangifesta a significant boost to -35 (181), five shots ahead of second place.

Robbie Busher (PGA EuroPro Tour) and Dale Brennan had led overnight and were able to make a final 66 (-6). Whilst it wasn’t enough to catch the ultimate winners, they were able to finish on a hugely respectable -30 (186).

Third position went to the pairs of PGA of Spain Professional, Peter Gustafsson, and Gordana Solak, and former Walker Cup player, Owen Edwards, and Paul Faithfull both with 193 points (-23).

De Filippi & Cort Command Leaderboard at Quinta do Lago http://www.pgae.com/news/de-filippi-cort-command-leaderboard-at-quinta-do-lago/ Fri, 03 Nov 2017 19:58:24 +0000 PGAs of Europe http://www.pgae.com/?p=20403 Italy's Giorgio De Filippi and GB&I's Matt Cort share the lead at The Invitational Pro-Am heading into the final round...]]>

Giorgio De Filippi, and PGA of Great Britain & Ireland Professional, Matt Cort, share the Round 02 lead at Eligo Club’s ‘The Invitational Pro-Am 2017’ at Quinta do Lago in Portugal.

Whilst De Filippi’s second round might not have had the fireworks of his first 18 holes, it was another show of great play as the Italian picked up five birdies in his opening 12 holes. Two bogeys coming back home meant the round was not enough to claim the sole lead, but a three-under par 69 for a n eight under (136) total gives him every chance at victory in the final round.

Overnight leader, Cort, also carded two bogeys, however his fast start of three birdies in the first four holes, followed by another at the par-5 15th allowed him to return a two-under 70 and keep his share of the lead.

PGA of GB&I Professional, Garry Gilligan, 2014 Ryder Cup Team Europe Captain, Paul McGinley, and PGA EuroPro Tour Professional, John Henry, have a share of third place after their respective rounds of 67, 68 and 70 see them just one shot off the lead at seven-under par (137).

Round 01 Team leaders, Robbie Busher (PGA EuroPro Tour) and Dale Brennan, continued their top form with a betterball 59 (-13) for a total of -24 (120) and a two shot lead over the chasing field.

However the low Team Pro-Am round of the day came from the PGA of Italy’s Emanuele Canonica and his partner, Allegra Mangifesta, with a -15 57 that saw them climb six places to -22 (122).

Colm Moriarty (PGA of GB&I) and Daphne Fagan were also able to break the 60-barrier with a combined 59 for outright third place at -20 (124).

England’s Matt Cort (PGA of Great Britain & Ireland) had the ideal start in Round 01 of The Invitational Pro-Am 2017 in Portugal with an opening six-under par 66.

Starting out on the North Course at the renowned Quinta do Lago resort in the Algarve, Cort made steady headway with three birdies out and three birdies in for the low round of the day.

PGA EuroPro Tour Professional, John Henry, and PGA of Italy Professional, Giorgio de Filippi, both sit just one shot back after both using eagles to their advantage for their five-under par 67s. Henry eagled the par 5 11th hole, whilst de Filippi also eagled the 11th along with the seventh as well.

Mark Mouland (European Seniors Tour) and Stephen McAllister (PGA of GB&I) sit in tie-fourth on four-under, whilst 2014 Ryder Cup Team Europe Captain, Paul McGinley, and England’s Sam Little share sixth place on three-under.

Robbie Busher (PGA EuroPro Tour) and amateur partner, Dale Brennan, have the team lead after an excellent 11-under par 61

John Henry’s solid play, combined with his partner, Robert Christie, earned a share of second in the team event with Challenge Tour Professional Ben Stow and his partner Michael Johnson, each on nine-under par (63).

The selection criteria for Team Europe have been confirmed for the 2018 Junior Ryder Cup, which will take place at Disneyland Paris®, on September 24-25.

The European Team will again comprise 12 amateur players – six boys and six girls – from any European Golf Association member country who are under the age of 18 as of January 1, 2018. In order to qualify, players cannot be members of a US college golf team as of the first day of the match.

The European Captain, Maïtena Alsuguren, has, with the assistance of the EGA and Ryder Cup Europe, identified the selection system based on an analysis of the important tournaments and championships in which the best European juniors will compete in during the lead-up to the Junior Ryder Cup team announcement on August 20, 2018.

The team will be selected by Alsuguren, who will be supported by a selection committee made up of representatives from Ryder Cup Europe and the EGA.

The Boys’ Amateur Champion and the Girls’ British Open Amateur Champion, if both eligible, will be automatically selected. The captain and the selection committee will take particular note of performances in the following events:

Boys:

 • The Amateur championship, Royal Aberdeen and Murcar Links, Scotland, 18 – 23 Jun
 • European Amateur Championship, Royal Hague Golf & Country Club, Netherlands, 27 – 30 Jun
 • European Boys’ Team Championship, Golf Resort Kaskada Brno, Czech Republic, 10 – 14 Jul
 • European Amateur Team Championship, Faldo Course Berlin in A-ROSA Sharmützelsee, Germany, 10 – 14 Jul
 • The Boys’ Amateur (champion gains automatic selection), Royal Portrush and Portstewart, Wales, 14 – 19 Aug

Girls:

 • Ladies’ British Open Amateur Championship, Hillside, Southport, England, 26 – 30 Jun
 • European Girls’ Team Championship, Forsgårdens Golfklubb, Sweden, 10 – 14 Jul
 • European Ladies’ Amateur Team Championship, Golf Club Murhof, Austria, 10 – 14 Jul
 • European Ladies’ Amateur Championship, Penati Golf Resort – Heritage Course, Slovakia, 25 – 28 Jul
 • Girls’ British Open Amateur Championship (champion gains automatic selection), Ardglass Golf Club, Northern Ireland, 14 – 18 Aug

In addition, the captain and the selection committee will analyse the results of the best boys and girls ranked in the World Amateur Golf Rankings (WAGR) and Women’s World Amateur Golf Rankings (WWAGR).

Selectors will also look at strong performances in national open-level and WAGR/WWAGR Elite, A and B events.

Alsuguren said: “It’s a real honour to captain Europe once again at the Junior Ryder Cup. Now that the qualifying events have been finalised, I am starting to get excited about seeing the team take shape next year.

“The standard of both male and female junior golfers is very high in Europe, and although we may not have a strong recent record, I’m certain that the team we will take to Paris next September will be of the highest quality.”

America has won the last five editions of the Junior Ryder Cup, with Europe’s last victory coming in Ohio, in 2004. The 2006 contest was tied.

The 2018 Junior Ryder Cup will be the tenth staging of the event, which has seen some of the world’s greatest players pass through its ranks. Reigning Masters Tournament champion Sergio Garcia played in the 1995 exhibition match, and, four years later, was a member of Europe’s Ryder Cup Team in Brookline.

Two-time Major winner, Suzann Pettersen, took part in both the 1997 and 1999 editions of the Junior Ryder Cup, while four-time Major champion, Rory McIlroy, formed part of the victorious European side of 2004.

Hunter Mahan, Jordan Spieth, Justin Thomas and Lexi Thompson are some of the global stars who have represented the US team.

Next year’s contest will be held at Disneyland Paris® for the first time and entry will be free for all attending.

European and US captains look ahead to the 2018 contest at Le Golf National

Press conference concluded the 2018 Year to Go celebrations

Thomas Bjørn and Jim Furyk today held their first joint press conference as respective European and US Ryder Cup captains for The 2018 Ryder Cup at Le Golf National.

Earlier in the day, the pair recreated history by hitting golf balls off the famous Eiffel Tower, 41 years after the legendary Arnold Palmer became the first – and only previous person – to do so.

The two captains used their press conference – which took place in the shadow of the famous landmark at the Pullman Eiffel Tower – to reflect on that stunt, meeting the French President Emmanuel Macron and all of the other activities which have formed the Year to Go celebrations.

They also looked forward to next year’s Ryder Cup, which will be held in France for the first time, at Le Golf National from September 28-30, 2018.

Bjørn said: “The last two days have been everything that France is. They have shown everything that it can do, and ever since I was appointed, there have been a lot of conversations about how we can deliver the best Ryder Cup ever.

“We’re off to some start, that’s for sure. It’s been amazing. European history is very special. It’s very special to each country in Europe, and when you come to this country, there might not be a country in the world that has a greater history and has more pride in its own history, and we have certainly lived that the last few days.

“France has shown me that it’s ready to take on one of the great sporting events in the world.

“We went to school yesterday and we saw kids on the golf course, and you realise that this country is now taking in so much to deliver a Ryder Cup that all of the golfing world can be proud of.

“This is one of the first times we come to one of the big cities in the world to play The Ryder Cup, and when this match unfolds over those three days at the end of September next year, you’re going to have Paris as a backdrop, and it’s going to be delivered in a completely new way. It’s going to be an event that I don’t think we’ve seen in the game of golf before.”

Furyk said: “I’m absolutely blown away by the last two days to be honest with you. My gratitude, really goes to Ryder Cup Europe and to the country of France for their hospitality and for putting on an amazing number of events.

“Last night we had dinner at the Palace of Versailles, which was an unbelievable, unbelievable night. This morning, breakfast at the residence of the President.

“Today, we got to emulate the same shot that one of my idols, Arnold Palmer, who hit off the Eiffel Tower about 40 years ago. I can’t imagine packing that all into two days. It’s been a phenomenal two days.

“This could really be the grandest setting ever in Ryder Cup history. So to be a part of it, I feel very fortunate.”

Le Golf National, France, will host The 2018 Ryder Cup from September 28-30, 2018, when Europe will try to regain the Ryder Cup following defeat at Hazeltine National last year. Bjørn’s team will be looking to extend an impressive winning record on home soil which stretches back to Valderrama in 1997.

European and US Ryder Cup captains led teams of junior golfers in friendly contest

Pair then hosted a clinic for more than 750 children

Activities were part of the 2018 Year to Go celebrations

Thomas Bjørn and Jim Furyk today went head-to-head at The 2018 Ryder Cup venue Le Golf National as the European and United States captains led two teams of junior golfers in a special Captains’ Challenge.

The pair were joined by eight members of the French Golf Federation’s Elite Junior Squad – four boys and four girls – for the fun contest over L’Albatros course, which next year will host The Ryder Cup for the first time, becoming only the second venue in continental Europe to do so.

The Captains’ Challenge was compered by Paul Armitage, Le Golf National’s General Manager, with European Captain Bjørn and United States Captain Furyk steering their respective teams of two mixed foursomes pairings through the five-hole challenge, which was played over the first hole and Le Golf National’s famous finishing stretch, the 15th, 16th, 17th and 18th holes.

Fittingly, the match was halved, with the challenge providing all eight juniors with an experience to remember on the course which will be the backdrop for 24 of the world’s leading players in 12 months’ time.

Team Bjørn, represented by Mathilde Claisse and Dimitri Mary, Lilas Pinthier and Thomas Boulange, and Team Furyk, comprising Candice Mahe and Pierre Pineau, Evangeline Prevot and Clement Charmasson, were then presented with flags signed by both captains as a memento from the day.

The Captains’ Challenge was watched by more than 750 local schoolchildren who were then able to hear Bjørn and Furyk pass on their expertise when the two captains hosted a clinic on the practice range. This group included pupils from the nearby Ecole Robert Desnos, in Guyancourt, who cycled to Le Golf National after earlier in the day receiving a visit from the two captains, who spent time in their classroom learning about the children’s work as part of the Mon Carnet de Golf educational programme.

Bjørn said: “Today brought you back to your own childhood, to see all these kids excited about golf. It was a good reminder of where you came from. It’s been a brilliant day in the sense of seeing the excitement about the Ryder Cup in France.

“We’re in a country where golf is not the biggest sport and The Ryder Cup doesn’t have a history, so to bring it here and see the schools getting involved, and to watch these fantastic young players in the Challenge gives you a few goose bumps. You can feel from them that they are so excited about The Ryder Cup.

“I had some good chats on the golf course with Jim and also with the kids, trying to talk to them about playing the game. They are extremely talented players and it looks like they have a great future ahead of them in the game. One comment to a kid like that can make them because we’ve all had it at some stage in our careers, that one guy who says something that stays with you for the rest of your life. Hopefully we passed on one or two things today that will stick with them and make them into great players.”

Furyk said: “We had a great visit this morning to a local school, and it was then great to see some of France’s elite junior players play a foursomes match. It was nice to see the golf course a bit and enjoy our day with the kids.

“The Captains’ Challenge had some amazing golf. The kids were nervous to start with but they played phenomenal. I enjoyed not only how well they played but how well they interacted. They helped each other reading putts, and played with genuine smiles on their faces.

“I think it was a great experience for them and I can’t imagine putting myself in their shoes, at the age of 16, 18. Trying to go back and hit those shots, I would have been a nervous wreck.

“The clinic was great too. We had a lot of fun interacting with the kids. You want kids them to think of this game as enjoyable, to relate and associate golf as fun. It was good to hear them out there cheering, yelling, and having a great time. It’s exactly what we’re looking for.”

Richard Hills, European Ryder Cup Director, said: “The Ryder Cup is defined by respect and togetherness, and events like the Captains’ Challenge are the embodiment of this. The Captains’ Challenge and Captains’ Clinic demonstrate that golf is accessible to both boys and girls and hopefully all of the juniors involved will be inspired by their unique experience at Le Golf National.

“Thomas and Jim are wonderful ambassadors for our game and for The Ryder Cup, and this undoubtedly came across in both activities, giving the participants a day they will never forget.”

Pascal Grizot, Chairman of Ryder Cup France 2018, said: “This day will leave an unforgettable memory for the numerous children from schools in Saint Quentin en Yvelines and beyond. The Elite teams will also take away great moments from this day with the captains at Le Golf National.

“This is the beauty of major sporting events and the beauty of meeting legends. The French Golf Federation could not dream of a better start to the Year to Go and these two days will really help promote the Ryder Cup to the French public.”

Thomas Bjørn and Jim Furyk visited a local school in Guyancourt

Youngsters are studying a Ryder Cup educational programme, Mon Carnet de Golf

Visit was part of the 2018 Year to Go celebrations

Pupils from a school close to The 2018 Ryder Cup host venue Le Golf National today had a special visit from captains Thomas Bjørn and Jim Furyk, with the nine and ten year olds showcasing their work as part of an educational programme which is inspired by the biennial contest between Europe and the United States.

Bjørn and Furyk are in France for The 2018 Ryder Cup Year to Go celebrations, and their first official engagement was to meet the children from class CM2 at Ecole Robert Desnos, in Guyancourt, who have been studying the Mon Carnet de Golf curriculum.

The educational programme aims to introduce golf and The Ryder Cup to French schoolchildren, integrating the biennial contest into a wide range of subjects.

European Captain Bjørn and United States Captain Furyk were greeted at the gates of the school by class teacher Florence Coquart, Marie-Christine Letarnec, the Mayor of Guyancourt and Serge Clément, the local area educational representative.

The captains, along with officials from Ryder Cup Europe, the PGA of America and the French Golf Federation, then visited the youngsters in their classroom, the party greeted by waving flags in support of both continents.

They spent some time in the classroom, taking the chance to view some of the work produced by the youngsters as part of the Mon Carnet de Golf programme before participating in a Q&A session with the pupils.

To mark their visit, the two captains were presented with good luck giftboxes and, in return, Bjørn and Furyk presented the school with a special Ryder Cup book signed by them both.

Richard Hills, European Ryder Cup Director, said: “The Ryder Cup educational programme is a fantastic initiative which helps leave a lasting legacy in the host country. It was a huge success in Scotland in 2014 and it is great to see the youngsters in Frances really engaging with it.

“Mon Carnet de Golf helps introduce a new generation to the game of golf through wider learning, and hopefully Thomas and Jim’s visit will help inspire these pupils even further.”

Pascal Grizot, Chairman of Ryder Cup France 2018, said: “I am very happy that both Ryder Cup captains have decided to visit one of the many classrooms in France involved in the Mon Carnet de Golf programme. The captains’ visit is an important statement of support to this national educational programme, which is driven by school teachers.

“Mon Carnet de Golf shows children can learn golf in a fun way. Introducing golf to children is a great way to overcome the negative images golf sometimes has and allows them to discover the great benefits of the game. I hope the French pubic will also be able to see golf in this way.”

Working Together – PGA of Norway & Norwegian Golf Federation http://www.pgae.com/news/working-together-pga-of-norway-norwegian-golf-federation/ Wed, 11 Oct 2017 11:45:53 +0000 PGA of Norway http://www.pgae.com/?p=20047 The PGA of Norway & Norwegian Golf Federation will launch a tutor/mentor program for members of the PGA of Norway...]]>

The PGA of Norway (PGAN) & Norwegian Golf Federation (NGF) will, in close cooperation with the PGAs of Europe, launch a tutor/mentor program for members of the PGA of Norway.

The program will start in January 2018 (January 20-27) and will prepare Norwegian professionals to add even greater value to the clubs where they work by becoming better skilled to mentor the local coaching team, as well as some going on to become tutors in the new PGA education on a national basis.

Background and Objectives

The PGAN and NGF have over the last 6-7 years completely restructured their Pro/Coach education system from the grass roots to top level.

The new educational system unites a working collaboration between the PGAN, NGF, Hedmark University College, Norwegian Olympic Committee and the PGAs of Europe.

The system has been through a recognition process in all organisations involved and has been given high score. It is now, in order to reach the learning outcomes, essential that all kinds of education are delivered with the same quality as planned.

The national tutor team needs to expand to be able to deliver education according to the growing needs from the organisation, and good mentors locally, and tutors nationally, will be the difference between success or failure. Good coach teams where PGA Professionals and volunteer coaches works hand-in-hand is the vision of PGAN and NGF. This means that PGA Professionals will have solid tutor and mentor competences as well as working conditions to function as a coach of the coaches.

Strategy

“We are really pleased to announce that this mentor program is being delivered together with The PGAs of Europe. It will add even more quality to the program and we will by this involvement of the PGAE do as we preach ourselves in order to living the philosophy of continuous improvement”, said Anders Thelberg, Head of Training for the PGA of Norway [pictured, right].

“The PGAs of Europe’s Tony Bennett [pictured, left] will be the “mentors mentor” during the program. We know we already have high quality in our national tutor/mentor team but we are always eager to reach a higher levels. Meeting Tony made us sure that we have found the right man to coach us to our next level. The involvement of the PGAs of Europe will also strengthen our educational system since it will help get our Norwegian model even more in line with European standards.”

PGAs of Europe Cooperation

PGAs of Europe Director of Education & Membership, Tony Bennett, added: “Since the very inception of the PGAs of Europe, more than a quarter of a century ago, we have promoted the benefits of collaboration between all of golf’s stakeholders. It is crucial to the development of the game that each organisation plays its part to ensure that golf can reach all parts of the community, and make the game accessible for participants and competitors alike.

“We are impressed with the working relationship that the PGA of Norway and NGF have created, and know that there have been huge strides made over the last few years particularly. We are sure that by collaborating with PGAN and NGF that we can help golf in Norway to make the next step along its evolution. We at the PGAs of Europe look forward to working with Anders Thelberg and all those involved in education and training from both the PGAN and NGF.”

Plan and Further Process

The tutor/mentor program is now being launched, with a start date of 20-27th of January for 2 years. The PGAN and NGF encourage golf clubs to ensure their PGA Professional attends the program. Specifically those clubs that have invested in volunteer coaches.

European Ryder Cup Captain Thomas Bjørn today announced that the European Tour Foundation will be the Official Charity of The 2018 Ryder Cup.

The European Tour Foundation was launched in May this year, replacing the existing Tour Players Foundation, and will bring together, under one umbrella, the many philanthropic and charitable elements the Tour engages in.

Its mission statement sees it seek to make a positive impact in the communities in which the European Tour hosts tournaments. It also issues grants to grassroots golf initiatives and supports European Tour players’ charitable initiatives on a global scale.

The Foundation will benefit from a number of fundraising activities over the next 12 months leading up to the biennial contest at Le Golf National in France from September 28-30, 2018, where Europe will try to regain The Ryder Cup following defeat at Hazeltine National last year.

Bjørn said: “I am delighted, in my position as Ryder Cup Captain, to nominate the European Tour Foundation as the Official Charity for The 2018 Ryder Cup.

“There is no question that the honour of being appointed Captain is the greatest gift that the European Tour can bestow on any of its members and, therefore, being able to repay the Tour’s charitable arm in this way and utilise the global impact of The Ryder Cup is very important.

“Having spent ten years as Chairman of the European Tour’s Tournament Committee, I know about the charitable efforts of many of our players in addition to what the Tour does collectively in the countries we visit.

“The newly constituted European Tour Foundation will help pull all these charitable initiatives together and its work will help The 2018 Ryder Cup leave a real legacy both in the host country France and around the world.”

Richard Hills, European Ryder Cup Director, said: “The Ryder Cup has benefited many good causes over the years and the appointment of the European Tour Foundation as the Official Charity for 2018 ensures we can help many more.

“Thomas has always been a huge supporter of the European Tour and our charitable work, and this announcement merely helps underline that.”

Following an extensive search of accomplished business and marketing leaders, the PGA of Canada has selected one of its own to lead the association to a new level of sustainable growth and success, its President announced Tuesday.

“Considering the large number of highly accomplished business leaders who entered this competition, I am excited to announce that our Board of Directors has selected Kevin Thistle to lead the PGA of Canada into an exciting new era of success,” Steve Wood, President of the Board of Directors of the PGA of Canada announced Tuesday.

Mr. Thistle, former President of Golf Operations for the Windmill Group in Calgary, has held leadership positions at some of Canada’s most recognized golf clubs including Angus Glen.

“I want to emphasize that while he was, until Wednesday of last week, an active member of our Board of Directors, he was chosen because of his track record in business, his demonstrated leadership skills, his proven marketing acumen and his ideas about sustaining growth and profitability in our business through innovation,“ Mr. Wood said.

“Kevin is extremely well-known and respected in our business across Canada, not only because of his extensive professional accomplishments but because of his ethics, his energy, his ideas and his ability to work with others to achieve common goals. The number of high calibre leaders who expressed interest in this challenge should have made a difficult choice. In the end, Kevin’s knowledge of our industry and experience as a marketing innovator made him a clear and unanimous choice of our Board,” Mr. Wood said.

“Thanks to the work of Gary Bernard, our former Chief Executive Officer, we are in a strong position, with the means to identify and pursue exciting new directions. The transition process towards those new directions will require vision, leadership and strong people skills. We are confident Kevin has those skills. “

“To me, this is a dream come true,” Mr. Thistle said. “I have been part of the PGA of Canada throughout my career. I have been active in both Ontario and Alberta zones of the PGA of Canada and I have close friends across the country. Our members value the PGA of Canada and the brand credibility it offers. I think they realize change is inevitable. I look forward to working closely with our Board and our members across Canada to help our association and its members enjoy a robust and exciting future.”

Founded in 1911 the Professional Golfers Association of Canada is the oldest professional golf association in North America and the second oldest PGA in the world. The PGA of Canada is a non-profit association comprising 3,700 golf professionals across the country and has evolved to become one of the most innovative and respected in the world.

Biography – Kevin Thistle, CEO PGA of Canada

Mr. Thistle, an accomplished PGA of Canada member since 1984, is a recognized leader in the Canadian golf industry who combines a demonstrated track record in golf management with superior business management and marketing skills.

While he was equipped with a Bachelor’s Degree (Commerce and Economics) from the University of Toronto, it was his passion for golf developed as a youngster at Pickering’s Seaton Golf course that established his career path. His PGA of Canada Executive Professional Qualification took him to Angus Glen where he started the new facility and grew the staff from two to more than 400 while overseeing development of a 15,000 square foot clubhouse and later, a 50,000 square foot addition. In 15 years there he progressed from Head Professional and Director of Golf to President and General Manager, all the while maintaining his PGA of Canada Executive Professional designation as an active part of his duties.

In addition to hosting the RBC Canadian Open twice, the Canadian Pacific Women’s Open and the Telus Skins game, Kevin continued to grow revenue at Angus Glen while adding another 18 holes to the course to make it a 36-hole facility.

From there he was lured to the exclusive Coppinwood Golf course, a Tom Fazio design consistently ranked among the best courses in Canada. In four years there, he and his team increased membership from 137 to over 400. During his time at the club he doubled revenues through innovations in all areas of the club.

Then Toronto Hunt Club called upon Kevin’s magic touch. In his first year he grew both membership and revenues with his proven tactics. He implemented new programs to an already robust food and beverage operation and instituted critical changes to grow pro shop revenues, but his plans for Toronto Hunt were interrupted by a phone call from Calgary.

As a result, Kevin said goodbye to the hands-on golf business to take on marketing and management challenges for the Windmill Group, owners, operators or managers of eight golf clubs including Calgary’s new Mickelson National. As President of Golf Operations and Vice-President of Business Development, he and his team grew revenues and increased membership from 108 to 500 in a four-month period at the Windmill Group’s private facilities.

Throughout his life, Kevin has shared his professional skills with the community. From coaching baseball and hockey in Markham to working with numerous charitable organizations including the Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation, the Sunnybrook Hospital’s One Night Live event, Toronto Raptors Foundation, Ronald McDonald House charities and many others, he is a committed believer in giving back to the communities in which he lives. He is the recipient of numerous awards for his community service.

His volunteer work extends to the sport that gives him a living. In addition to years of service on the PGA of Canada Board and zones, Kevin has been a Board member of the Golf Management Institute of Canada and Humber College Golf Management Advisory Board. He has also been a guest lecturer for the National Golf Course Owners Association, PGA of Canada Zones and numerous Professional Golf Management Programs across the country.

Kevin is married to his wife Heather and together they have two sons, Calvin and Christian.

Lumine Mediterránea Beach & Golf Club will play host to the 2018 Costa Daurada International Pro-Am and the PGAs of Europe Fourball Championship in February next year, creating the Costa Daurada Golf Festival.

From 08 to 11 February, the renowned Spanish club will host the Costa Daurada International Pro-Am with teams of one Professional and three amateurs competing over three rounds, together with a guaranteed prize fund of €20,000 for Professionals.

Directly after, from 12 to 15 February, the PGAs of Europe Fourball Championship Presented by Costa Daurada will see up to 120 pairs of PGA Professionals battle it out across the club’s Hills and Lakes courses in what has become one of the largest Professional tournaments in the world.

Professionals are invited to enter both events* that have joined forces for the second year in a row as the Costa Daurada Golf Festival, celebrating the ongoing successful partnership that Lumine, the PGAs of Europe and the local tourism agencies of the Costa Daurada have forged.

“Having these events together for a second consecutive year really adds strength to them both and proved to be a popular way of showcasing what Lumine has to offer,” said PGAs of Europe Chief Executive, Ian Randell.

“Hosting one of our Championships alongside a Sanctioned Event offers something for every type of player to head to Lumine and enjoy competitive golf and their fantastic facilities. We are looking forward to heading back there in February for another exciting few weeks!”

General Manager of Lumine, Calle Carlsson, commented: “We are delighted to have partnered once again with the PGAs of Europe for what promises to be two exciting events to help kick-start 2018 at Lumine. These tournaments are always fiercely competitive and of a high standard by the very nature of the professionals we have playing here. The Festival provides a great way for us to showcase both our superb golf courses and strengthen Lumine’s reputation as a host of top-level tournament golf.”

The PGA of Italy’s Lorenzo Gagli won the 2017 edition of the International Pro-Am after taming the windy conditions at Lumine to complete a wire-to-wire finish; his first PGAs of Europe Sanctioned Event win.

Gagli had used his momentum gathered from the 2017 Fourball Championship where he had finished tied-third with Emanuele Canonica, not far behind eventual winners from the PGA of Great Britain & Ireland, Paul Hendriksen and James Ruth, who closed with an outstanding seven-under round of 64 to take home the €6,150 first prize.

England’s David Lynn carded a three-under par 70 at National Golf Club in Turkey to take the 2017 Beko Classic Pro-Am honours.

The former European Tour Professional and 2013 Portugal Masters winner was able to move up from second after five birdies and two bogeys gave a six-under par total (213), seeing him claim the $10,000 winner’s cheque and his first PGAs of Europe Sanctioned Event title.

“I came out here with zero expectations having retired from tournament golf,” said Lynn. “My practice round was awful, but I managed to shoot a good score in Round 01 and continued from there so I’m delighted.

“I started a bit poorly today but then managed to string some birdies together, including on the last which I didn’t know at the time was to pip it by one. I’ve had some super teams…and out here you meet some great people, and that’s why we’re out here, having fun with it all.”

Fellow Englishman and PGA EuroPro Tour Professional, Andrew Marshall, also shot a 70 but was just one shot short of the target finishing at five-under par (214) for the week.

Overnight leader, Georg Schultes (PGA of Austria), could not capitalise on his lead but still shot a steady level-par 73 for third place at four-under (215).

Team Opet 2 [pictured above] were able to convert their lead to win the Team Pro-Am event with 260 points (-44). Amateurs Oya DagliArzu Narin and Nurten Ozturk partnered 2011 Open Champion and 2016 Ryder Cup Team Europe Captain, Darren Clarke, for their final round 87 points, and were also aided in their victorious run by the PGA of Great Britain & Ireland’s Garry Houston and PGA of Sweden Professional, Joakim Rask.

Opet 3 were in the chase all week and managed to match Opet 2’s 87 points, however it was not enough to catch the lead, giving them a 257-point (41) total, whilst Otokar 1 and Opet 4 finished in a tie for third place with 251 points (-35) a piece.

KPMG Release 2017 Golf Participation Report http://www.pgae.com/news/kpmg-release-2017-golf-participation-report/ Wed, 27 Sep 2017 17:34:08 +0000 PGAs of Europe http://www.pgae.com/?p=19842 The latest of KPMG’s annual publications offers analysis and insights into Europe’s golf industry, and this year shows slight growth in the industry...]]>

The 2017 Golf Participation in Europe Report, which provides invaluable figures for key stakeholders in the golf industry, is the latest of KPMG’s annual publications offering analysis and insights into Europe’s golf industry. This year’s edition bears good news in store for the golf industry: slight growth.

According to the survey, which is based upon statistics compiled from local golf associations in 43 European countries, the continent’s golf markets are displaying positive signs of growth in 2016.

In fact, when taking a closer look at Europe’s golf markets, 81% of local golf associations indicated in 2016 that their level of participation had either stabilized or increased. The remaining 19% of European markets still experienced some decline, including key markets such as Scotland and Austria.

The research demonstrates that the number of registered golfers showed a slight increase, by 2% (+82,584 players), while the supply of golf courses declined by 28 courses (24 openings and 52 closures). Forty-six per cent of European countries surveyed experienced a growth in participation rates, 35% showed stability and in 19% of the countries surveyed demand declined. The research further shows that men make up 67% of the total registered golfers across Europe in 2016, and the proportion of European population who actively played golf (0.9%) has not changed since 2015.

“As we have identified a moderate level of growth in 2016,” says Andrea Sartori, Partner and KPMG Global Head of Sports, “it is important to reflect upon various creditable golf development initiatives, which have been launched in previous years with the aim of reaching new audiences and retaining existing golfers across Europe. These initiatives and the hard work of many other golf industry stakeholders, provide evidence for a consciously optimistic outlook for the game’s development. Certain markets have demonstrated exemplary performance and highlighted the opportunities a proactive and coordinated approach can achieve.”

Beko Classic A Major Attraction For Campbell & Clarke http://www.pgae.com/news/beko-classic-a-major-attraction-for-campbell-clarke/ Mon, 25 Sep 2017 09:21:29 +0000 PGAs of Europe http://www.pgae.com/?p=19791 Major winners, Michael Campbell and Darren Clarke, will join Professionals from 11 countries for the 21st edition of the Beko Classic Pro-Am...]]>

Major winners, Michael Campbell and Darren Clarke, will join Professionals from 11 countries for the 21st edition of the Beko Classic Pro-Am, taking place from 29th September to 1st October at National Golf Club in Belek, Turkey.

Campbell earned his Major victory at the 2005 US Open at Pinehurst finishing two shots ahead of Tiger Woods having qualified at the European Sectional event at Walton Heath, England, at the beginning of the week.

2011 Open Champion, Clarke, returns to the Pro-Am after a year’s absence in which he captained Team Europe at the 2016 Ryder Cup matches at Hazeltine National Golf Club.

Joining Campbell and Clarke making up the 26-team field are a whole host of Professionals from across Europe with a combined 54 Major, European Tour, Challenge Tour and PGA Tour wins between them.

2017 Aegean Airlines Pro-Am winner, Peter Gustafsson (PGA of Spain), and 2016 Mercedes-Benz International Pro-Am winner, Georg Schultes (PGA of Austria), will both play for the first time.

2013 Portugal Masters and 2004 KLM Open winner, David Lynn, returns to the Beko Classic making a total of 25 European Tour wins amongst the field to go along with the combined 23 Challenge Tour, two majors, and four PGA Tour wins.

2017 World Club Pro-Am winner, Garry Houston, joins the Professional field hot off the PGA of Great Britain & Ireland’s historic victory in the PGA Cup against the PGA of America in which he helped secure a record 16 points for Team GB&I, the most scored against the US since the event began in 1973.

Raymond Russell (PGA of GB&I) is the only returning champion in this year’s Pro-Am and will look to replicate his 2010 victory, whilst fellow Beko Classic regular, Sion Bebb, will no doubt be trying to use his recent PGA of GB&I Welsh National PGA Championship victory as a springboard to a successful performance this year.

Bjorn Pettersson, Oscar Floren, Joakim Rask, and Jesper Kennegard make up a strong PGA of Sweden contingent. PGA of GB&I Professionals Chris Gane and Lloyd Kennedy join the field, alongside the PGA of Spain’s Álvaro Salto.

Murray & Dunstan Pair Up For 200 Mile Ryder Cup Run http://www.pgae.com/news/murray-dunstan-pair-up-for-200-mile-ryder-cup-run/ Fri, 15 Sep 2017 16:07:59 +0000 PGAs of Europe http://www.pgae.com/?p=19759 Fitness fanatics, Dr Andrew Murray & Paul Dunstan, are teaming up to run 200 miles from Wentworth Club in England to Le Golf National in France...]]>

Two fitness fanatics from the world of golf, Dr Andrew Murray and Paul Dunstan, will team up to run 200 miles from Wentworth Club, England – the home of Ryder Cup Europe – to the host venue of The 2018 Ryder Cup- Le Golf National in France.

The pair will run in excess of a marathon for seven days, while taking on various golfing challenges each day in their rest breaks, including the British Speedgolf Open, and a GolfSixes, culminating in a final round of 18 holes at Le Golf National’s famous course upon reaching their final destination.

The run coincides with the Year to Go celebrations as Europe and USA prepare to lock horns in the 42nd Ryder Cup, one of the world’s greatest sporting contests, and will raise money for “Golf In Society”, enabling people with dementia to continue to play the game.

Dr Murray, a brand ambassador for Merrell UK is no stranger to long distance challenges having famously once ran 4300km from far north Scotland to the Sahara desert. However the 36 year old who also works as a Sports and Exercise Medicine consultant with the University of Edinburgh, and the European Tour Golf is recovering from a recent hospital admission with viral meningitis in mid August, and knows it won’t be easy.

Paul Dunstan & Dr Andrew Murray

“We will be racking up about 50,000 to 60,000 steps per day, eating about 5000 calories and will be on the move golfing and running most of each day,” Dr Murray said.

“We want to highlight that exercise in the great outdoors is the best thing you can do for your health. Going from being a couch potato to walking, running, or playing golf regularly can add seven years to life, it can improve health and on average make you happier. We’re urging everyone to get outside and get walking, running, golfing, or any other activity you enjoy.”

Paul Dunstan, Ryder Cup Operations Director with the European Tour added, “I’m not entirely sure what I’ve let myself in for, I enjoy running as well as golf but ask me at the end of the seven days how I feel about them! However, the main aim of the challenge is to promote the many benefits of not just golf and running, but exercise in general and having an active lifestyle, as well as funding for Golf In Society, if we can achieve these two objectives the sore legs we’ll have at the end will be worth it.“

The pair hope to raise £5000 for Golf In Society, improving the lives of persons with Dementia and Parkinson’s disease by supporting them to continue playing golf, offering additional benefits to their carers. They can be supported at this link www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/GolfAndMentalHealth.

Former PGA in Scotland Secretary Peter Lloyd Passes Away http://www.pgae.com/news/former-pga-in-scotland-secretary-peter-lloyd-passes-away/ Tue, 29 Aug 2017 10:50:55 +0000 PGA of Great Britain & Ireland http://www.pgae.com/?p=19561 Tributes have been paid to Peter Lloyd, who served the PGA of GB&I admirably for 30 years, after he passed away peacefully on Sunday at the age of 76...]]>

Tributes have been paid to Peter Lloyd, who served the Professional Golfers’ Association admirably for 30 years, notably as secretary of the Scottish Region, after he passed away peacefully on Sunday at the age of 76.

“Very sad indeed,” said 1999 Open champion Paul Lawrie of Lloyd’s death. “Peter was brilliant to my wife, Marian, and myself when I first started playing Scottish Region events. A great guy who will be sorely missed.”

Born in Airdrie and brought up in Gartcosh, Lloyd started with The PGA in 1986 after the closure of the local British Steel plant, having followed his father into the steel industry after leaving school.

Appointed by his good friend Sandy Jones, Lloyd was tournament director for the Scottish Region for eight years before serving as the senior tournament director at The Belfry for two years.

He returned to Scotland in January 1997 as regional secretary, succeeding Neil Simpson, and held that post until December 2006. During that time he managed the Region’s move from Glenbervie to its current headquarters at Gleneagles.

At Tartan Tour events, Lloyd was supported by his wife, Anne, as she worked as a recorder. Her death in November 2010 left a huge void in Lloyd’s life but he continued to serve The PGA in a pastoral role.

In fact, he served as welfare and benevolent officer for 10 years, just stopping last year.

“Peter will be missed by the many who knew him but fondly remembered by us all,” said Jones, The PGA executive president. “He was a great ambassador for golf and The PGA and I have lost a lifelong friend.”

PGA in Scotland secretary Shona Malcolm added: “Peter was a true character and they are few and far between in golf in Scotland today. He was always ready with advice and willing to help but never let anyone away with actions he thought reflected badly on his beloved PGA.

“I’ll miss lifting the phone and asking, ‘Peter, can you remember the background to such and such a tournament?’ Invariably, he could.”

Lawrie was joined in paying tribute to Lloyd by former PGA in Scotland captains Andrew Crerar and David Scott.

“Peter was a true gentleman and a dedicated man in many ways,” said Panmure PGA Professional Crerar. “He was a giant for The PGA in Scotland and will be greatly missed and very fondly remembered.”

Scott, director of operations at the Old Course Hotel Golf Resort & Spa in St Andrews, added: “Peter was a huge support to so many people during his time at The PGA. He will be sadly missed.”

Lloyd, a vice president of Mount Ellen Golf Club, is survived by his three children: Alison, Lesley and Leonard and his grandchildren Daniel, James, Callum, Fraser and Megan.

BMW & PGAs of Europe Continue Advancement in Europe http://www.pgae.com/news/bmw-pgas-of-europe-continue-advancement-in-europe/ Tue, 15 Aug 2017 06:00:02 +0000 PGAs of Europe http://www.pgae.com/?p=19395 BMW and the PGAs of Europe continue the successful relationship that has had a positive impact throughout the Association’s 35 Member Countries...]]>

German automobile manufacturer, BMW, and the PGAs of Europe have extended their Corporate Partnership, continuing the successful relationship that has had a positive impact throughout the Association’s 35 Member Countries.

The partnership has proven to be ground-breaking for the Association, generating direct business for BMW within their VIP Sales Programme, predominantly through the development of an exclusive PGA Professional Member offer and hub page for PGA Professionals to access.

The partnership is another way in which BMW support golf, complementing the partnership with Ryder Cup Europe, title sponsoring Professional tournaments, the BMW Golf Cup International, amongst other activities that show how golfers are very much a key demographic for them.

BMW continue to have excellent relationships with Member Country PGAs such as the PGA of Great Britain & Ireland, PGA of Germany and PGA of Switzerland, and have since developed new national partnerships in Holland, Czech Republic, Slovenia and Poland.

These national relationships allow BMW to touch golf on not only a pan-European scale but also locally in various countries, further benefitting the PGAs and ultimately their individual Professionals.

The PGA Professional offer is open to any PGA Professional member of a PGAs of Europe Member Country and entitles them to access to the BMW International VIP Sales Programme, giving benefits such as individual assistance from a personal VIP contact, preferential terms and conditions, invitations to exclusive events, and delivery at any BMW or MINI dealer within Europe or at BMW Welt in Munich.

“In the past few years our relationship with the PGAs of Europe has continued to develop and we have enjoyed working closely with the Association and its Member Country PGAs,” said Christian Masanz, Head of BMW Golfsport Marketing. “The partnership helps to strengthen our global engagement in golf and in particular with PGAs and their PGA Professional Members.”

“Historically most of our partnerships have been about brand association and communication,” said PGAs of Europe Chief Executive, Ian Randell. “These things continue to exist but we are acutely aware of the need for our corporate partnerships to be exactly that – a partnership that directly benefits each other’s businesses.

“We were delighted to be able to attract BMW to join our Corporate Partner family and it has been a pleasure to see that not only have both sides gained great value from the relationship but also many of our Member Country PGAs have benefited directly too.”

PGAs of Europe Strengthen Provision of International Golf Development Expertise http://www.pgae.com/news/pgas-of-europe-strengthen-provision-of-international-golf-development-expertise/ Mon, 14 Aug 2017 06:00:46 +0000 PGAs of Europe http://www.pgae.com/?p=19391 The association is strengthening its position through the formalisation of its Golf Development Team and an increased strategic focus in golf development...]]>

The PGAs of Europe has taken steps to strengthen its position as a leader in the provision of international golf development expertise through the formalisation of its Golf Development Team [pictured] and an increased strategic focus in this area.

The Association has long been at the forefront of golf development, utilising its network of 35 Member Countries and the 21,000+ PGA Professionals they represent. It is now taking further steps to ensure that it is positioned and equipped to provide a comprehensive and effective set of services, guidance, tools, initiatives and expertise to assist countries in growing and promoting golf in their territories.

“The PGAs of Europe are uniquely positioned to provide services and expertise for developing golf on an international basis, said Chief Executive of the PGAs of Europe, Ian Randell. “This is both through our own Golf Development Team and our network of National PGAs and their PGA Professionals who provide a skilled workforce for the advancement of the game and golfers.

“We are building on the experience and knowledge that has been gained over the past 20 years or so around the globe to move forward with a holistic view to the provision of expertise. This ranges from strategic, structural and political guidance, to sharing good practice and expertise in areas such as education and coaching to help a country achieve its golf development objectives in whatever form they may take.”

A major step toward this has been the formalisation and continued integration of the Golf Development Team – a group of 24 Golf Developers that are highly skilled in a wide variety of areas relating to golf development such as, beginner and elite coaching, management, participation activity with key focus areas such as juniors, women and disabled players, as well as consultancy and professional education.

The Golf Development Team, managed by PGAs of Europe Director of Education & Membership, Tony Bennett, have been deployed in a wide variety of golf development missions and activity for over two decades, in particular for The R&A and their ‘Working For Golf’ Programme. The Association will place greater emphasis on shining light on this hugely valuable activity moving into the future through its communications and ongoing activity.

The Association recently hosted a Golf Development Team meeting at its Belfry HQ that brought together many of its existing members, and some that are newly added, to continually develop the Team and inform them of the PGAs of Europe’s current activity and updated strategic undertakings and to share the latest good practice initiatives, along with details of new tools and strategies now available.

The Team Members also attended the Golf Development Team A.S.K. Workshops, the latest edition of the initiative that gives PGA Professionals a platform to share experiences, ideas and stories in front of a live audience in short, sharp and concise 20 minute sessions, ensuring the Team Members also took part in CPD activity for their personal and professional development.

Elli Goes Three for Three at BlackSeaRama Pro-Am http://www.pgae.com/news/elli-goes-three-for-three-at-blacksearama-pro-am/ Sat, 15 Jul 2017 06:00:01 +0000 PGAs of Europe http://www.pgae.com/?p=19320 PGA of Italy Professional, Federico Elli, got another PGAs of Europe win under his belt at the 9th BlackSeaRama Vivacom Pro-Am title...]]>

PGA of Italy Professional, Federico Elli, got another PGAs of Europe win under his belt after three successive three-under rounds earned him the 9th BlackSeaRama Vivacom Pro-Am title in Bulgaria.

Starting the final round with a two-shot lead, Elli played yet more solid and steady golf in windy conditions for a 69 and a nine-under par (206) total.

“It’s been a great day – I had good ball-striking but didn’t putt well,” said Elli. “But then three birdies on the last three holes really helped me out, especially on 18 as it’s a monster hole.

“I made a swing change last year and I worked a lot and it’s starting to pay off…so I would like to thank my teacher, Andrea Corbellini, who helped me a lot.”

With the low score of the day, the PGA of France’s Julien Gressier rose up the leaderboard to finish in second place. Over his closing holes, the Frenchman went birdie-eagle-birdie for a five-under 67 and a total of 212 (-3).

The PGA of Spain’s Peter Gustafsson started the day in second but moved back to finish in third after an uncharacteristic two-over 74 gave him a total of 213 (-2).

However, Gustafsson and his team of Krasimir Balakov, Lubomir Tushev and Andon Tushev were able to convert their overnight lead in the Team Pro-Am event. A solid closing 87 points (-15) was enough for a two-point victory with 259 points (-43).

Adam Sagar (PGA of Spain) and his amateurs Konstantin Belov, Todor Chakov and Dimitar Georgiev, moved back one place into second with their 257-point total (-41).
